1. How can I make a referral to the SAFE Program?

Currently, the SAFE Program provides assessment and treatment only to cases that are referred to us by the Allegheny County Juvenile Court.

If you are a treatment provider, we can offer workshops, in-service training or consultations to help you or your staff learn more about specific treatment interventions to meets the needs of children and adolescents with problematic sexual behaviors.

2. Do I (or does my insurance) have to pay for anything pertaining to my treatment at the SAFE Program?

If you are referred to our Program by the Allegheny County Juvenile Court, you or your insurance will not be billed or charged for any service you receive pertaining to participation in this Program.

3. Who will know I am involved in the SAFE Program?

Since we receive the referral from the Allegheny County Juvenile Court, your Judge, your Probation Officer and the SAFE treatment team will know you are receiving treatment at SAFE. Your name will not be placed on any questionnaires or interviews.

4. Does the SAFE Program have a research component?

Yes, but participation is completely voluntary and not part of the probation with Juvenile Court. If you would like to learn more about this, please contact the SAFE Program Manager.
